The Brewers have begun agreeing to deals with their arbitration-eligible players. On Thursday they agreed to terms with Hoby Milner and Victor Caratini. They have now agreed to terms with Keston Hiura.
The Brewers and Keston Hiura have agreed to a $2.2 million deal for 2023 to avoid arbitration, per source.

What is Hiura’s Role on the Brewers?
Keston Hiura, once a high draft pick of the Brewers, has had an odd career. In 2020 he was one of the Brewers’ best hitters, but since then he has been on a roller coaster when it comes to consistency. In 2022 he even spent some time in Nashville. However, Hiura is still a talented player who did come through in some big moments for the Brewers.

In 2022 Hiura slashed .226/ .316/ .449 and hit 14 home runs. Hiura started his career at second base but has since been playing first base and has played a little left field as well. Last season he appeared at first base 33 times, second base 14 times and left field five times. He also took on the DH role 26 times. It’s clear that the Brewers are willing to play Hiura in multiple positions, but the question is whether or not he can find consistency at the plate. In 2022 Hiura, a right-handed hitter, ended with reverse splits. He hit .254 against RHP and .188 against LHP.
