Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre was one of the most popular players during his playing days. He has become one of the most disliked in the past several months. He is wrapped up in a welfare scandal that is accusing him of stealing money from the welfare system to fund other projects and line his pockets. Today, Favre reportedly spent nine hours being interrogated by the Mississippi state attorneys.
NEW: Brett Favre was interrogated by state attorneys for nine hours Monday during a secret deposition about the Mississippi welfare scandal and the millions in TANF funds that went to him, a volleyball stadium and a drug company he was heavily invested in.https://t.co/ePK5BIQ51P

Brett Favre Interrogated By Mississippi State Attorneys
This marks the first time that Favre has testified under oath. It was a secret deposition that took place in an office building near where the former quarterback lives. The lawsuit is over $77 million worth of misappropriated federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds. Favre remains adamant that he did not do anything wrong. Because of a protective order on the case, the deposition will remain confidential for 30 days as attorneys on both sides will submit redactions. It also prohibits anyone from discussing the case publically.

Terrible Situation
Obviously, we need to wait until a decision is made before we begin to make sweeping judgments. We have a court system for a reason. However, regardless of what happens the court of public opinion has flipped on Favre. During his playing days, he was one of the most popular players not just in Wisconsin but in the NFL. Fans and analysts loved his competitive fire and how he simply looked like a kid having fun on the field. Now, it is difficult to talk about his time in the NFL without also having to talk about this scandal.

This will be a story that will continue to develop over time but I can’t imagine this ends well for anybody. It is a sad fall from grace for one of the most beloved players in Packers history.
