The Green Bay Packers find themselves in a real position to compete in the NFC playoff picture.  Through 13 weeks the Packers have surged up to the seventh seed after starting 3-6.  Three consecutive wins against the Chargers, Lions, and Chiefs have made them one of the hottest teams in the NFL.

Now, they appear to be getting even better by bringing in a running back who has nearly 5,500 all purpose yards in his career.

Veteran Running Back Kenyan Drake took to Twitter (X) to announce he will be a member of the Packers:

The 29-year-old Kenyan Drake has been in the NFL since 2016. His NFL career includes stints with the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens. He has played with several teams this year, including the Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens (again), and Cleveland Browns. The Ravens have used him just twice, with two receptions for 31 yards and just one carry for no yards.

What Does Drake Bring To The Packers?

A third-round pick by Miami in 2016, Drake has played in 103 games (44 starts) and rushed for 868 yards and 33 touchdowns. Additionally, he has 218 receptions for 1,655 yards and eight touchdowns.

With Aaron Jones’ future undetermined this season, adding Drake is huge for the experience in the running back room.  A.J. Dillon has certainly been performing better as the season goes on.  On Sunday night, Dillon ran 18 times for 73 yards as the Packers beat the Chiefs 27-19 at Lambeau Field to get back to .500. He earned five first downs on his runs, his second-highest total of the season, according to Pro Football Reference.

However, adding a running back who is a threat in the passing game is exactly what this team needs.  That is exactly what they lost in Aaron Jones, and the Packers could easily get some of that production back with Drake.  This also says one big thing about the Packers’ front office… they are all in on this season.
