The Green Bay Packers are ready to go all in on the new era on offense. That was made even more evident today when they officially signed a new weapon for this Packers offense.
Jordan Love and company just got a whole lot better.
The Green Bay Packers Sign RB Josh Jacobs

In free agency this offseason, Jacobs was a hot commodity, but not quite as hot as he was a year ago. However, he was intriguing enough for the Packers to sign the 26-yeaar-old running back according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

As a first-round draft pick in 2019, Jacobs mostly lived up to his expectations on a bad Raiders team. Jacobs rushed for 1,000 yards in two of his first three seasons. During his first season in the NFL, he finished runner-up for Offensive Rookie of the Year. In his first 43 games, he scored 28 rushing touchdowns.
It was a bit of a surprise how the 2022 season turned out. A good running back, Jacobs became one of the best in the NFL for one season. His 1,653 rushing yards led the NFL. In addition, he gained 400 receiving yards. He was named to the first team of the All-Pro. And it happened right before he was about to be a free agent, after the Raiders had declined his fifth-year option.
Jacobs eventually signed the franchise tag after a standoff. Jacobs rushed for 805 yards last season with an average of 3.5 yards per carry, down from 4.9 yards per carry the year before.
Despite playing better after Josh McDaniels was fired during the season, Jacobs missed four games because of an injury. As a result, his value dropped a bit in the offseason.
What This Means For The Packers’ Offense

The Packers are still believed to try to keep Aaron Jones in Green Bay for (at least) 2024. This does, however, spell the end for AJ Dillon.
Having Aaron Jones and Josh Jacobs in the same backfield would create for one of the best 1-2 punches in the entire league. Jones ended last year by recording five straight 100 yard rushing performances and was vital in the Packers’ Wild Card win over the Dallas Cowboys.
