The Wisconsin football staff put plenty of work into finding the right quarterback in the 2025 class, and did just that with a familiar name.
Landyn Locke, the brother of current Wisconsin football quarterback Braedyn Locke, was the first commitment in the 2025 cycle for the Badgers. Locke has been the longest standing commitment for the Badgers’ staff, and now takes his official visit to Madison to meet with the staff once again. The quarterback was highly recruited by Offensive Coordinator Phil Longo, and he wanted Locke for a good reason.
Wisconsin Football QB Commitment Landyn Locke Takes Official Visit in Madison
Typically, some recruits will cancel official visits after making their commitments, even if the visit is with their school in order to attend different events. However, three-star quarterback and current Wisconsin football commitment Landyn Locke was still eager to visit Madison once again. Currently, the quarterback is spending time with the team and staff during his official visit, while potentially recruiting the other athletes attending.
With Locke, Wisconsin Badgers Football Can Air the Ball Out With Ease
One of, and perhaps the biggest reason behind his recruitment from the Wisconsin football program, has been the arm strength of Locke. Also a baseball player when he is not playing football, Locke has an extremely strong arm and has a history of playing in open offenses like what the Badgers’ staff showcased last season. Locke has the ability to slide into the Wisconsin offense with relatively little development needed before he does so.
Another positive in the game of Locke is his natural throwing mechanics that make each throw look effortless. Locke can truly air the ball out, and his quick motion makes it incredibly difficult for defenders to change the ball path.
The knock on Locke has been his accuracy and lack of reps, which has not allowed for the quarterback to reach his full potential on field. This past season was the first full year where Locke was the starting quarterback, which means his ceiling on the field has not been hit yet. Locke is still raw, but he has all of the tools to become a successful quarterback with less game experience compared to other 2025 recruits.
Can Landyn Locke Crack the Starting Lineup in the Future?
In order to break into the starting lineup in the future for the Wisconsin football team, Locke is going to have to improve his overall accuracy. As stated previously, Locke is still a raw prospect compared to the majority of the 2025 class, and thus might need some coaching before developing into an impact player. This upcoming season will be pivotal for Locke as he enters his final year at Rockwall High School as the starter once again.
