Bijan Robinson, the Atlanta Falcons rookie running back, torched the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Robinson was one of the reasons why they took down Green Bay 25-24. He rushed for 124 yards on 19 carries and also caught four passes for 48 yards receiving.
The previous week against the Carolina Panthers, Bijan Robinson rushed for 56 yards on 10 carries. Atlanta is 2-0 on the season, and he has been a huge part of this offense. He was the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of the University of Texas.
Robinson is one of the best running backs to be drafted in the first round since Ezekiel Elliott and Saquon Barkley. It was important for the Packers’ defense to slow down Bijan Robinson on Sunday, but it didn’t happen. Because it didn’t happen, there is a former Atlanta Falcons player who believes he can be something special.
Falcons Radio Network Analyst, Dave Archer Believes Bijan Robinson Can Be Special Like Barry Sanders
On Monday, Archer went onto 92.9 The Game and told Dylan Matthews and the Morning Shift about Robinson:
“There are some Barry Sanders-esk things he’s doing. I don’t know if it’s just his ankles, his knees, his hips, everything he does he’s able to stop on a dime to do it all, and he certainly is reminiscent of the great Barry Sanders and if he can get anywhere near that stratsophere man Atlanta is really gonna love what they’ve got.”
Bijan Robinson is going to be a headache for other teams all season long and not just the Carolina Panthers defense and the Green Bay Packers’ defense. This is a run-first offense under head coach Arthur Smith, and it will continue to operate this way. Teams that play Atlanta will have to try and stop the run, but good luck with that.
Dave Archer also added on the show this morning:
“He a dyanmic kid that can do it all, catch the ball out of the back field, probably a better receiver if we’re gonna compare him to Barry Sanders. I don’t remember Barry spliting out and lining up outside the numbers and running slant routes against corners for firs downs, but that’s what we saw Bijan Robinson do yesterday, so he’s got it all.”
It is extremely stretched at the current moment to say Robinson will be like Barry Sanders. Bijan Robinson is just two games into his NFL career and has a long way to go before that status, but he could very well win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2023, however.
