The Wisconsin Badgers football staff held an amazing Junior day recently and pulled out all the stops. Each staff member made themselves available for meetings and tours with the recruits. Plenty of recruits showed out, like Wisconsin hard commit Mabrey Mettauer and four-star offensive tackle Donovan Harbour. However, one specific recruit had quite the time getting to know the Badgers’ staff.
Badgers Welcome Robert Booker to Madison for a Visit
One recruit on Wisconsin’s radar has been Robert Booker, a three-star tight end from Wisconsin. The big six foot six target spent the majority of his visit with position coach Gino Guidugli. Booker spoke to Rivals and detailed his enjoyment of the time he spent in Madison and the feeling that he was able to get for the school. Booker cited coach Guidugli as “…probably my favorite tight ends coach I have talked to so far.” The relationship between the two appears to be solid after their first meeting.
Minnesota and Iowa have also offered Robert Booker and appear to be in the running with Wisconsin for the elusive tight end. Booker is a big target, but he can still find his way past defenses and into the gaps in coverage. His height represents a major asset since the quarterback can throw the ball in his vicinity for a reception. His wingspan and size could seriously help the Badgers.
Booker also works incredibly hard in run blocking scenarios. As he fills out his frame and adds size, he will be able to block more effectively and fill gaps. Booker has the potential to become an all-around tight end with his combination of size, speed, and strength. Booker is still adjusting to the position but his ability thus far to learn and develop his game has been impressive. With the right coaching and adjustments, Booker could be a high-level player for the Badgers in the future.
