The Wisconsin Badgers pulled off the unthinkable this past week and went into Minneapolis and took both games from the No. 1 ranked Minnesota. After moving into the USCHO rankings last week to No. 14, Badgers hockey jumps to No. 5 after an upset for the ages. They even collected five first-place votes this week, which ties No. 2 Denver for the most behind No. 1 Boston College. The Wisconsin Badgers are on a roll, and for Women’s Badgers hockey, their dominance continues this season. After beginning the season ranked No. 1, they didn’t relinquish it last week and will continue with the same ranking by the USCHO this week. The Wisconsin Badgers weren’t expected to win the game on Saturday against No. 3 Ohio State. The Badgers remain unranked and have been going through a bit of a transition period on offense during this season, with new head coach Luke Fickell trying to implement the offensive style of Phil Longo. The Badgers, however, didn’t go down without a fight. Like with the previous week, a lot of it came down to QB Braedyn Locke and his ability to lead the team with poise and not falter under pressure. Braedyn Locke for the Wisconsin Badgers Locke was thrust into action…
The No. 2 Wisconsin Badgers got back to their sweeping ways against Michigan State on Friday and are looking to continue the same success against Minnesota. After losing to No. 1 Nebraska, Wisconsin volleyball is looking to regain their streaks as the second half of Big Ten play rolls on. New Frontiers for Women’s Collegiate Volleyball It’s no secret that Wisconsin volleyball has been breaking records with attendance for NCAA sports. That exposure has led the Badgers to be featured on a new TV network – Fox. This Border Battle from the UW Field House will air live on Fox,…
While the Wisconsin Badgers took the field today against the No. 3 ranked Ohio State and had their own problems to deal with, so did a former quarterback in Graham Mertz. The Florida Gators met the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs, and there were plenty of reactions to how the former Wisconsin Badgers QB performed, and the overall game that the Gators had. Badgers hockey is in a better spot after Mike Hastings took over at the helm. The coaching change has led to the Badgers skyrocketing up the rankings to No. 14, and they’re off to a 5-1-0 start. This marks the best start for Badgers hockey in nearly 20 years, matching what the 2004-05 team put together to start their season. The players are even starting to get consistent individual recognition, like senior Forward Mathieu De St. Phalle. The Big Ten awarded him one of the Three Stars of the Week for his performance in the two games against Michigan State.…
The success of the Wisconsin Badgers reaches past the college football circuit, with plenty of former Badgers making appearances on NFL rosters each week. We’ll take a look at the standout performances from Week 7 games in the NFL with former Wisconsin Badgers involved. Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos The Broncos welcomed the Green Bay Packers on Sunday in a battle of teams that have had their struggles this season so far. Russell Wilson was good enough to lead the Broncos to a 19-17 win over the Packers. He went 20 for 29 with 194 passing yards and one…
Badgers volleyball and Nebraska met on Saturday in what was a showdown of No. 1 and No. 2 teams with undefeated records on the line. There’s no surprise that the winner of the match was likely going to take the top slot, which is exactly what happened with Nebraska pulling out a close win over the Badgers. Unfortunately, even bringing the block party to Nebraska wasn’t quite enough to pull out a win. What was a little surprising was the number of first-place votes that moved from Wisconsin to Nebraska, with Wisconsin only holding on to a single first-place vote.…
Men’s Division I hockey continues to spin with their USCHO rankings, as this week, there’s plenty of moving and shaking happening. Part of that moving is the Men’s Badgers hockey team breaking into the rankings after being left off the list of the Top 20 at the start of the season. After defeating No. 17 Michigan Tech, the Badgers knocked them out of the rankings and found their spot at No. 14.
