The Aaron Rodgers trade starting match continues. The Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets have been at a stalemate ever since Rodgers went on the Pat McAfee Show saying he wanted to move on and be a Jet. However, the longer this goes on, the more speculation continues that a third team might swoop in and try and get Rodgers. One analyst suggests a surprise NFC rival, the San Francisco 49ers as a possibility.

Aaron Rodgers To The San Francisco 49ers?
Craig Carton of The Carton Show laid out the scenario. The 49ers have Trey Lance, Brock Purdy, and Sam Darnold as quarterbacks on the roster. The rest of the roster is ready to win now. Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, and many more are at the top of the league in their positions. All that’s left is the all-important quarterback position. While they do not own any first-round picks in this year’s draft, they do own many mid-round picks. The package would center around a bunch of third-round picks and a first-round pick next year.

Is This Real?
This could very well be the Packers trying to pressure the Jets through the media. However, anything is a possibility in the NFL. It seems unlikely that the Packers would want to take the proposed deal. Third-round picks and then a first-round pick that will most likely be at the end of the round? Not great. Trading him to the 49ers would also keep him in the NFC which would increase the likelihood of the Packers facing him down the road. However, if the Jets are being unreasonable, Brian Gutekunst could decide to stick it to the Jets and divert Rodgers elsewhere.
The Aaron Rodgers to the San Francisco 49ers is likely simple pressure trying to be applied to the Jets. It is also a dead time in NFL news and morning talk shows are often looking for outlandish topics to discuss and generate traffic from. Regardless, everything has to be taken as a possibility.
