Over the years we have seen Aaron Rodgers work his magic so many times it almost feels routine. With every season, we seem to get another heart stopping moment to add to the list. However, before we get into the 2020, let’s rank some of the most clutch moments delivered to us by number 12.
#5: Rodgers to Jennings Super Bowl XLV
With six minutes remaining in Super Bowl 45, Rodgers had his chance to put the game out of reach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Up by only three points, the Packers were faced with a crucial third and ten. However, not phased, Rodgers threw one of the best passes of his career. With Ike Taylor all over Greg Jennings, Rodgers had only a few inches of room to work with. The conversion on third down would ultimately lead to a field goal on the drive putting the Packers up by six. Pittsburgh would eventually turn the ball over on downs the next drive and Green Bay would be crowned Super Bowl champions.
#4: “This One, Adams, TOUCHDOWN”
Dak Prescott just ran a touchdown in to put the Cowboys up by three. With a minute left, Rodgers put together an amazing drive. However, how the drive ended will always be remembered. Aaron Rodgers went to Adams on second and ten for a touchdown with 16 seconds remaining. The Cowboys would be unable to score and the Packers would win the game. Overall, Rodgers was too much for the Cowboys yet again.
#3: “Does He Have a Vintage Moment in Him”
There isn’t much to say about this play except “wow.” The Packers trailed by 20 at one point in the game and had one final shot to win the game. Rodgers threw to James Jones and laterals followed. Richard Rodgers lateraled far back to Aaron Rodgers who was tackled. However, a flag came down for a face mask call and the Packers got an untimed down. Rodgers rolled left and back right before setting his feet for an amazing throw. Rodgers threw about 70 yards for a Hail Mary touchdown with zeros on the clock.
#2: “Says a Prayer”
Another Hail Mary on the list? Most guys will be lucky to connect on one, if any, in their careers. Rodgers’ ability to throw off any platform and to throw so high really gives him an edge. With five seconds left in a playoff game, under pressure, 60 yards downfield, he still throws a dime. Even though the Packers were down to their number four and five wide receivers, Rodgers managed to take the game into overtime against the number two seeded Cardinals. The Hail Mary to Janis will forever be one of his greatest moments.
#1: Rodgers to Cook
It’s hard to argue a different play for number one on this list. However, when you consider everything leading up to this play it makes it even better. Rodgers took the Packers from 4-6 to playing in the divisional round. The Packers took the lead early and the Cowboys started to comeback. However, Aaron Rodgers still found a way on third and 20 to throw possibly one of the best passes in NFL history. A rope down the sideline with five seconds left to set the Packers up for the win.
What do you think are Rodgers most clutch moments? What do you think should’ve made the list?
As Always
