Aaron Defends Bryan Gutekunst and Russ Ball in Adams Trade

Nearly two weeks after Aaron Rodgers announced he was returning to the Packers, Davante Adams was traded to the Raiders.  As reports have come out over the last three months, we have learned that the Packers did just about everything to keep Adams.  Today from ⁦Pete Dougherty asked whether Aaron Rodgers was “taken aback” when Davante Adams told him he wanted to leave the Packers. Aaron Rodgers staunchly defended Brian Gutekunst and Russ Ball for “stepping up” with contract offer for Adams.

Aaron Rodgers Commnets on Davante Adams:

We had some really honest conversations about my future here, and how long I wanted to play.  His own thoughts about his future and where he wanted to play, live and raise his family.  The Team obviously stepped up and made a competitive, or an even more compelling, offer.  Ultimately, Davante thought it was best for him and his family to be in Vegas.  So that was tough for sure, but I love Tae and love our connection.  I’m a little biased, but it’s hard to think of a better player I’ve plated with.  He had a chance to be the all-time record in a lot of categories at receiver for us.  I thought that might be a little nugget that would kind of keep him here, but Tae made a decision that he thought was best for him and his family.  I can’t fault him for that at all.

Rodgers went on to talk about how he wishes Davante well going forward:

It’s crazy how much better the relationship has gotten between Rodgers, Gutekunst, and Ball

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers Front office have come a long way
Addison Van Patten: “Exactly one year after Packers QB Aaron Rodgers officially began his holdout of the 2021 season, he confirmed he’d end his season in Green Bay. He was more than excited to back in the locker room.”
This speaks volumes to the effort and communication put forth by both sides to ensure that the hall of fame quarterback remains in Green Bay.  The Packers had an great first practice with Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Sammy Watkins.  Lets hope they can keep that rolling all the way through February 2023!
