The Brewers’ bullpen got a shakeup on Monday.
It was announced that the team placed RHP Matt Bush on the 15-day injured list with right rotator cuff tendinitis.
RHP Javy Guerra was designated for assignment. Guerra never found his command in Milwaukee as he had more walks (9) than strikeouts (5) and had an 8.64 ERA in eight appearances. Guerra is out of MiLB options, the Brewers will have ten days to decide whether to trade him or put him on waivers.
RHP Jake Cousins was recalled from Triple-A Nashville. Cousins for the Brewers last season had a 2.70 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 13 IPs for Milwaukee before a UCL injury knocked him for the rest of the season.
LHP Alex Claudio selected from Triple-A Nashville. Claudio pitched for the Brewers in 2018, providing another left-handed option for Manager Craig Counsell in the bullpen.
Overall, Milwaukee brought back some familiar faces, and it’ll be interesting to see if they can add to this recent stretch of consistency for the bullpen.
