Christian Haynes: Offensive Guard, UConn: NFL Draft Scouting Profile and Projected Draft Position
Christian Haynes UConn Stats
In his four years, Haynes has only given up a total of 7 sacks. While this doesn’t put him up with the elite linemen, it still is an impressive number.
Christian Haynes Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Haynes has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- Quick-footed with smooth movement skills to cover a large area. Rangy with above average lateral ability. Bursts off the snap and sets up quickly with little wasted motion
- In the run game, Haynes plays with a mean streak and does a nice job generating a push at the initial point of attack. Haynes can get outside and does a decent job landing blocks in space
- Hand placement is excellent, and he shows a good understanding of angles when climbing upfield
Weaknesses
- Is a bit underpowered, often coming off the line of scrimmage too high and struggling to generate movement. Haynes might be no more than a wall-off, angle blocker
- For all of his physical gifts, often gets terribly sloppy, especially in pass protection

Christian Haynes in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Haynes is projected as an undrafted free agent. The OG position is always a tough one to project in drafts. It is not a position that many teams prioritize and yet not have solid guards can cripple a line. Below is al list of mock drafts and where they have Haynes being taken.

Would Christian Haynes Fit on the Packers?
I really don’t see Haynes as a fit for the Packers. Haynes is a fine prospect but the Packers have very little need for an OG. Elgton Jenkins has been extended and Jon Runyan Jr. has been solid his first two years. The Packers have need at tackle but guard, not so much.
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
His sloppiness in pass protection is why Haynes falls undrafted in many mock drafts. Teams need players that can protect the QB. I expect the Packers to look elsewhere if they are looking for a guard.
