Despite an epic collapse in London, a Packers veteran wide receiver turned back the clock with his impressive performance. Looking for the positives after such a deflating defeat is hard to do at first glance. However, after a few days to reflect you can find a glimmer of hope. There was one familiar face that had his best game of the season. Randall Cobb hauled in seven catches for 99 yards against the Giants and was the Packers leading receiver. The last time Cobb had a game with over 98 yards receiving was in November 2019 while he was a member of the Dallas Cowboys.
The wide receiver position has been a huge question mark surrounding the Packers’ offensive. This is leaving us to question who will step up to fill the cosmic void that was left after Davante Adams’ departure. Injuries, inexperience, and untimely drops have plagued Green Bay’s receiving corps this season. Although this is a young group of wideouts, Randall Cobb needs to be the dependable receiver that Aaron Rodgers is looking for. On Sunday, Cobb, an 11 year veteran, showed glimpses of the 2014 version of himself where he had a 1,000+ yard season. He now leads the Packers in receiving yards this season with 249.
Green Bay has more questions than answers heading into a Week 6 matchup with the Jets. There are a plethora of issues for the Packers on both sides of the ball. But if Cobb can continue to produce they way he did against the Giants it will be a huge help for Green Bay moving forward.
