Bobby Portis might be the only player that could give Giannis Antetokounmpo a run for his money as Milwaukee’s most popular player. After two seasons on the Bucks, Portis has become as much a part of Milwaukee as any player who has spent many years in the city. The unofficial Mayor of Milwaukee re-signed with the Milwaukee Bucks after winning the 2021 NBA Championship with the team in his first season with them. The deal was a two-year $8.9 million deal with a player option in the second year. It was a steal of contract for the Bucks as Portis revealed he had offers for more money elsewhere.
However, Bobby Portis bet on himself, the Underdog, and his gamble has paid off. After taking less money to stay with Milwaukee, Marc Stein reports that the Arkansas product is expected to re-sign with the Bucks again. Only this time, it will be a multi-year deal to keep him in Milwaukee long-term.
Bobby Portis is expected to re-sign with the Bucks on a multi-year deal this off-season.

Bobby Portis with the Milwaukee Bucks
Bobby Portis originally signed with the Milwaukee Bucks on a one-year deal. He was an immediate impact player off the bench. Portis averaged 11.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in the Bucks’ championship season. In 2021-22 Portis saw his role change slightly. With starting center Brook Lopez out for most of the season with a back injury, Portis became the team’s starting center.
2021-22 saw Bobby Portis put up the best numbers of his career. The veteran center averaged 14.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. Despite the Bucks’ early playoff exit, Portis gave a full-out effort. He averaged 10.6 points and 10.0 rebounds during the Bucks’ playoff run this past year.
All of these improvements in production made it seem as if Bobby Portis could have left Milwaukee for much more money. However, it sounds like the Bucks (and the city) have done enough to convince him to stay around.
