The Green Bay Packers pulled off a flurry of moves to free up salary cap space on Monday. In addition to cutting Za’Darius Smith, Green Bay also cut ties with OL Billy Turner. According to reports, Turner failed a physical leading to his release. However, the Packers were also able to agree to contract extensions with Preston Smith and De’Vondre Campbell. Of note, too, was the news that Davante Adams has informed the team he will not play under the franchise tag. If he does not receive a new deal that he feels is worthy of his talents, he will hold out. To top off this busy first day of free agency, multiple reports have stated that the Packers will not be offering a contract to Marquez Valdes-Scantling. This is not too surprising given the price MVS is reportedly setting for himself. However, multiple teams have expressed interest in the four-year veteran, among them the New England Patriots.
Source confirms the Patriots are "tire kicking" on Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
MVS is 6-foot-4 and ran a 4.37-second 40-yard dash at the combine. But he's not strictly an outside receiver.
He took 30.8% slot snaps and 67.7% of outside snaps in 2021.

In addition, some Packers’ division rivals are also taking a look at MVS.
I'm told teams showing preliminary interest in #Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling include the #Raiders, #Bears, #49ers, #Colts & #Texans, per league source.

What Will Happen with MVS?
It seems less and less likely that the Green Bay Packers will be making an offer to MVS. He is reportedly looking for an annual salary of about $10 million per season. The Packers, while still working with negative cap space, are not likely to bite at that number. Stranger things have happened, though.
The fact of the matter is this: there are numerous teams that can (and will) offer MVS more money than he would get if he were to stay with the Packers. If MVS is interested in staying with the only team he has ever played for in NFL, it will need to be at a discount.
