Week one is finally here it’s felt like forever since January when the Packers lost in the NFC Championship game in California. Now the Packers go into the second year with head coach Matt Lafleur. They look to build on there 13-3 campaign from last year and make another Super Bowl run. The Packers and Vikings were clearly the two best team in The NFC North last season.
The Week One Matchup
Last season The Packers went 2-0 against the Vikings. Minnesota has a very dominant pass rush which could cause problems for The Packers who are uncertain what their right side of there offensive line will look like. The Packers also have ILB questions on who will start and who will play. Kamal Martin a bright spot in camp will be out for the next few weeks with a leg injury. The Vikings are a very good running and play action team which could pose problems for the Packers. The Packers could take advantage of The Vikings Secondary which has had trouble covering Davante Adams in the past. The game will played without fans at US Bank Stadium in Minnesota which could be an advantage for Green Bay because the way Aaron Rodgers draws offside and 12 man penalties. Look for the Packers to lean on Aaron Jones who was great against the Vikings last year.
Things to Watch for:
Aaron Rodgers vs Mike Zimmer’s defense. Aaron Rodgers last season didn’t have great games against Minnesota last year part of that was Zimmer’s scheme on the defense which Rodgers said “He throws many different things at you”. The other part was that the Packers ran the ball more last season than previous seasons with Mike McCarthy. The injures to the offensive line might impact the game plan, and it will be interesting to see what The Packers plan of attack is on Sunday in Minnesota.
Week One Prediction:
This will be a sloppy game early with no preseason but in the end I think the Packers offense will take care of the football. I see The Smith Brothers having a big game against the Vikings offensive line and the defense making a play late. Dalvin Cook and the pass rush will be effective for Minnesota but not enough. Packers 27 Vikings 20.
