Khris Middleton is free to talk to any NBA team he chooses, starting on Friday, June 30, when NBA Free Agency begins. With him declining his option with the Milwaukee Bucks, who knows what his future holds at 31 years old? Middleton has dealt with some injury issues over the last two seasons but also played a huge role in their 2021 NBA Championship.
Khris Middleton can return to the Milwaukee Bucks if he wants to, but there will be other options for him. In just 33 games played during the 2022-2023 NBA regular season, he averaged 15.1 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 4.9 APG. Which teams can make a massive play for Middleton in NBA Free Agency?
2023 NBA Free Agency: Khris Middleton’s Options
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks need help on the defensive end and were one of the worst defensive teams in the league last season. If Dallas doesn’t feel Kyrie Irving is a solid No. 2 option for Luka Doncic, they can throw the money at Khris Middleton.
Doncic is still the No. 1 option with the game on the line. Middleton is used to being the No. 2 option on a championship team, playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo. Khris Middleton is a solid-two way player, and Dallas is changing its roster after missing the playoffs last season.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers might lose Austin Reaves, among others, in NBA Free Agency. They were just in the Western Conference Finals last season. Los Angeles adding Khris Middleton to the mix, along with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, would be interesting. The defense would be even better, and Middleton would be one of their primary scoring options.
The Lakers could also move off Davis, but it is highly unlikely. They are trying to win another championship in the LeBron era before he retires.
Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers would have to make some roster moves to sign Middleton. The first thing they would have to do is unload Tobias Harris‘s contract to sign Khris Middleton. He is a way better option than Harris at this point.
Middleton would bring championship leadership to the locker room, which is what head coach Nick Nurse is looking for. Center Joel Embiid is also looking to get over the hump and win a championship. Middleton would be either the second or third option depending on if they bring back James Harden or not.
