The #7 Marquette Golden Eagles were embarrassed on Saturday against the #1 UCONN Huskies on the road 81-53 and they are looking to get right on Wednesday night against the DePaul Blue Demons at home. This game will tip off at 8 p.m. CT.
Marquette has a 19-6 overall record and a 10-4 BIG East Conference record on the season. DePaul has a 3-22 record so far this season and they are 0-14 in BIG East Conference play.
The Golden Eagles only had two players score in double figures on Saturday against UCONN. Kam Jones led the way with 15 points and he also grabbed four rebounds and recorded two assists. Oso Ighodaro scored 14 points, grabbed four rebounds, and recorded three assists.
Once again, the key to slowing down the Marquette Golden Eagles is limiting Tyler Kolek on the score sheet. He only scored seven points against UCONN and will need to get into the double-digit mark against DePaul on Wednesday night. He also grabbed three rebounds and recorded three assists as well.
UCONN did a very good job of limiting the former Big East Player of the Year and Kolek can only be limited for so long. Head coach Shaka Smart needs to draw up some plays to get him going early on Wednesday.
DePaul Blue Demons To Watch For Against the Marquette Golden Eagles
Matt Brady has yet to win a game as the interim head coach of DePaul. These two basketball teams last played each other on January 24 and Marquette won that game by a final score of 86-73. In the Blue Demons’ most recent game, they lost to the Providence Friars on the road on Saturday by a final score of 81-70.
Only two players scored in double figures for the DePaul Blue Demons against the Friars. Jaden Henley and Elijah Fisher each scored 15 points against the Providence Friars. Henley grabbed two rebounds and Fisher grabbed four rebounds in that contest as well.
This is a game where the Marquette Golden Eagles will need to respect its opponent. They will win this game by double digits against the DePaul Blue Demons, but it is more about getting right for the future and forgetting what happened against the UCONN Huskies.
