The #4 Marquette Golden Eagles are looking to avoid a road upset on Tuesday night against the Butler Bulldogs. Tipoff for this contest will be at 5:30 p.m. CT. Marquette is a potential trap game situation before they face the top-ranked UCONN Huskies this Saturday.

The Golden Eagles avoided a home upset this past Saturday against the St. John’s Red Storm. Marquette trailed by as many as 15 points in the game and rallied to win against St. John’s 86-75. Tyler Kolek was amazing for the Marquette Golden Eagles with 27 points, seven rebounds, and recorded 13 assists.

Stevie Mitchell scored 14 points, David Joplin scored 12 points, and Kam Jones also added 10 points for Marquette in this one against the St. John’s Red Storm. At the moment, the Golden Eagles have an 18-5 overall record and a 9-3 conference record.

Head coach Shaka Smart has his team potentially eyeing one of the number-one seeds in the NCAA Tournament. This is one of the games that Marquette has to win in order to achieve that mark.

Head coach Thad Matta has his players at a 16-8 record for the Butler Bulldogs and they have a 7-6 conference record in the Big East. Butler is tied for fifth in the conference with the Xavier Musketeers. Butler last played on Saturday at home against the Providence Friars and won that game by a final score of 75-72.

The Bulldogs have a shot at the NCAA Tournament and if they were able to end the seven-game winning streak of the Marquette Golden Eagles, this would be a great win for their NCAA Tournament resume. DJ Davis led the way for the Bulldogs on Saturday against Providence with 20 points.

Pierre Brooks scored 12 points, Jahmyl Telfort scored 11 points, and Posh Alexander also added 10 points for Butler. The Butler Bulldogs are going to play hard in this matchup against the Marquette Golden Eagles. This is a game Marquette can fall in, but they have better star players than Butler does and that will be the difference and it could be a one-possession game.
