After a hard-fought game against South Dakota State University, the Wisconsin Women’s basketball team walked away with their third victory this season.
The Badgers are perfect through the first two weeks of the season after defeating their opponent 66-64. Wisconsin battled back and forth against the Jackrabbits as the lead consistently changed. Wisconsin Senior Brooke Schramek sank the game-winning shot with 0.8 seconds left on the clock to maintain undefeated.
Wisconsin Basketball Defeats Tough SDSU Squad on Late Game Heroics

The Wisconsin Women’s basketball team is currently off to a hot start with three wins early on. The Badgers have defeated Milwaukee, Western Illinois, and South Dakota to start the 2023-24 season. Wisconsin battled the Jackrabbits and hung on for the win against a team that made it to the NCAA Tournament a season ago.
The Wisconsin Badgers opened up the game with an 11-0 run in the first quarter, taking the lead 14-13 before the start of the second. The Wisconsin basketball team suffered a five minute scoring drought following their run.

Wisconsin opened up the offense in the second quarter and started to gain a much better feel for how they wanted to run their plays. As the Badgers controlled the tempo of the game, they began to click and hit the open shots they were creating. Serah Williams, Brooke Schramek, and Natalie Leuzinger helped ignite the Wisconsin offense during the second quarter with multiple three-point shots.
Williams recorded a career-high four blocks in the first half of play as Wisconsin entered the half up one, 33-32. The Jackrabbits were stellar from the floor against Wisconsin in the first half, shooting 46.5% from the field and making five three-pointers as well.
As the third quarter of play began, Wisconsin basketball built a dominant 13-point lead and looked to run away with the game. The Jackrabbits, however, had other ideas as they clawed their way back into the game and tied the score at 62 with less than a minute of play left. Wisconsin was able to maintain possession as Schramek drove to the rim and scored the game-winning layup with 0.8 seconds left on the clock.

Up next for the Wisconsin basketball team is their first road test of the season as the Badgers travel to Kansas. The Kansas State Wildcats will host the Badgers in what should be an entertaining game for the experience Wisconsin basketball squad. The Badgers and Wildcats will tip-off November 19th at 4 p.m. from the Bramlage Coliseum live on ESPN+.
