The Wisconsin football staff and defensive backs coach Paul Haynes have landed yet another official visitor in the secondary.

Jayden Shipps, a three-star cornerback from Maryland in the 2025 recruiting class, has recently booked an official visit with Wisconsin football for June 14th. Shipps is a highly physical cornerback and has been a main target for the Maryland Terrapins and the Virginia Cavaliers. Wisconsin football hopes to make a major impact on the recruit during his visit in order to move up his list of schools.

After plenty of discussion and hard recruiting, Wisconsin football has landed an official visit from three-star cornerback Jayden Shipps. Shipps is currently ranked as the 25th overall recruit in the state of Maryland, and the 78th overall cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class. The defensive back also has official visits booked with NC State and Maryland next month along with the Badgers.

The Wisconsin football staff spent much of the past recruiting cycle focusing on acquiring players that would ultimately fit the best into the team as well as the scheme. Head Coach Luke Fickell is looking to run a no-nonsense program that produces exceptional results, much like his Bearcats teams before he joined the Badgers.

This time around, Wisconsin football has done more of the same as they are searching everywhere to find the correct fits for their team. Coach Paul Haynes has been one of the busiest staff members as he is doing just that to fill out the Badgers secondary. Shipps is one such target for Haynes that truly feels like he could slide directly into the Badgers program with ease.

Shipps is a fast, physical cornerback that is able to cover his man no matter their size or strength. Shipps clings to his man in coverage and ensures that opposing players cannot make easy receptions against his coverage.

Can the Wisconsin Football Staff Land Shipps Following his Official Visit?

At this point in time, Shipps heading to Maryland seems like a sure thing as he has visited a handful of times, and also holds several crystal ball predictions. In order for Wisconsin football to land Shipps, they will need to pull out all the stops for his official visit next month in hopes of gaining ground.

The best tactic for Wisconsin will be showing the cornerback how he can fit into the defense, and how he could find himself on the gridiron quicker than most.
