Wisconsin basketball head coach Greg Gard is a known Green Bay Packers fan, so it’s not a surprise that he doesn’t think highly of the Chicago Bears.
During a recent interview on ESPN Madison, Gard even took a hilarious shot at Caleb Williams and the Bears when asked about his thoughts on Wisconsin senior guard Kamari McGee jawing at the 2024 NFL draft top overall pick’s appearance after making a corner 3-pointer in last Saturday’s game between the Badgers and the USC Trojans at Galen Center in Los Angeles.
Wisconsin basketball HC Greg Gard took aim at the Bears
“I didn’t even realize how irrelevant the Bears are for me,” Gard said. “I didn’t even realize he was sitting over there. But they said, I asked him and [Max] Kelsmit after the game, like, ‘Who are you?’ ‘Well, you’re yelling at him.’ He goes, ‘No, it was this dude next to him that was doing all the chirping.’”
Gard did not stop there, as he noted Williams leaving the game before it ended due to the lopsided nature of the score in Wisconsin basketball’s favor. Willians, of course, was a former USC football quarterback before turning pro.
“So between our Packers guys and our Vikings guys, they said he left a little earlier. They’re going to give him some ‘Go Pack, Go’ and some SKOL chants as we were wrapping up the game. But he had to get out. He had to get out early. He obviously saw the result coming.”
The No. 24 Wisconsin basketball crushed the Trojans, 84-69, to extend the Badgers’ win streak to seven games.
