Milwaukee Brewers pitchers and catchers report on February 13 this year and the first full squad workout will be a few days later on February 18. With less than one month to go before spring training, here we recap the moves made by the Brew Crew so far.
Free agent signings

The Milwaukee Brewers have only made two MLB signings this off-season, with both going to pitchers. Grant Wolfram technically signed a split contract, which means that while he is on the 40-man roster his pay in 2025 will be prorated based upon time spent in the major and minor leagues. Elvin Rodriguez was the other player to get a MLB deal, in which he is coming off a tremendous season in Japan.
On the other hand, the Brewers handed out several minor league free agent deals. Here are all the acquisitions.
- C Jorge Alfaro
- 1B Jake Bauers
- LHP Bruce Zimmerman
- RHP Deivi Garcia
- LHP Thomas Pannone
- RF Jared Oliva
- RHP Jose Arias
- C David Garcia
- 2B Anthony Seigler
- C Ramon Rodriguez
- OF Bladimir Restituyo
- LF Jimmy Herron
- 2B Raynel Delgado
Of note, RHP Jon Duplantier was originally signed by Milwaukee, but they released him in order to pursue other opportunities. Additionally, LHP Connor Thomas was a Rule 5 Draft selection from the Cardinals and he is on the 40-man roster.
Trades

As expected, the Brewers traded Devin Williams this off-season. They also made another minor trade that saw prospect Mason Molina find a new home. The players that Milwaukee acquired are LHP Nestor Cortes, INF Caleb Durbin, and RHP Grant Anderson.
Grading the Milwaukee Brewers off-season so far

All together, it’s been a relatively quiet off-season for Matt Arnold and company. However, they are the reigning National League champions. While they lost Willy Adames in free agency and their closer Williams via trade, the vast majority of their young core is under team control (with more help on the way) and the bullpen was lights out when Williams was recovering from injury last year.
That being said, they didn’t necessarily need to do a whole lot. A grade of a C+ seems fair given the fact they did what they were expected to do, but not a whole lot more. While they likely looked into upgrades at first base and bringing in another experienced infielder, preferably someone who can play third base, nothing has come about. Instead at the corners they will be relying on a bounce back year from Rhys Hoskins and leaning on a combination of Durbin, Tyler Black, Andruw Monasterio, Oliver Dunn, and potentially Sal Frelick.
