The Wisconsin Badgers faced the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday night, and they had no answers on defense for Marvin Harrison Jr. in a 24-10 loss. With the loss, Wisconsin dropped to 5-3 on the year, and third-ranked Ohio State improved to 8-0 on the season.
One of the reasons why the Buckeyes won is because Harrison Jr. had another big game. He caught six passes for 123 yards receiving and two touchdowns for Ohio State. Marvin Harrison Jr. won the BIG10 Offensive Player of the Week last week, and he can very well win it again this week.
This is the sixth time this season in eight games he has gone over 100 receiving yards in a game. He is one game away from tying the school record and two games away from breaking it. With this game, Harrison Jr. continues to make his case to be a Heisman Trophy finalist potentially.
Head coach Ryan Day said about Marvin Harrison Jr. after the win on Saturday night against the Wisconsin Badgers:
“I believe he’s the best football player in the country.”
Harrison Jr. has a chance to be the second wide receiver in four seasons to win the Heisman Trophy. Devonta Smith of Alabama won the award in 2020.
Luckily, the Wisconsin Badgers Would Not have to Face Marvin Harrison Jr. Again Until Maybe the BIG10 Championship Game
Wisconsin currently has a 3-2 record in the BIG10 conference, and they are currently in a 4-way tie for first place in the west division with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. A lot has to take place for the Badgers in order to get to the BIG10 Championship Game this season.
As for the Ohio State Buckeyes, they and the Michigan Wolverines are both 5-0 in the BIG10 conference and are in the east division. It will most likely come down to that matchup again to decide who goes to the title game. Michigan has beaten Ohio State in the last two years and will see if they make it three years in a row.
If Wisconsin and Ohio State do meet again this season, Marvin Harrison Jr. will most likely light them up again. This is one of the reasons why he is going to be a top-5 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
