Willy Adames put on a show as the Milwaukee Brewers held off a late rally by the Pittsburgh Pirates to come away with the 4-3 victory. Aaron Ashby (2-6) pitched five innings of two-run ball before handing it over to the bullpen. Ashby also flashed some pretty good (or lucky) leather while out on the mound.

The Willy Adames Show (and Throw)
Willy Adames does not have the best hitting slash line on the team. In fact, it is well below what everyone expected coming into this season. However, his .208/.281/.465 line of production does not tell the whole story. Adames has been hitting the ball all season, but has oftentimes fell on rotten luck of hitting directly to opposing fielders.
On Friday night, though, Adames got ALL of one baseball and launched it to the second deck of American Family Field.

According to Would it dong? on Twitter, the home run was a no doubter, meaning it would have been a home run in any ballpark in Major League Baseball.

Adames’ home run gave the Brewers a two-run lead, making the score 4-2. It proved to be the difference maker in the game. In the ninth inning, Josh Hader had some rare mistakes and allowed one run to score. Former Brewers first baseman Daniel Vogelbach had an RBI single off of Hader to make the score 4-3. Apparently, the Pirates’ third base coach thought running on cut-off man Willy Adames was a good idea as he sent Kevin Newman around third to try and tie the game. It was futile.
Here is the game-ending play. I think Willy Adames, the relay man, was as surprised as anyone. pic.twitter.com/EesitR2Thd

After the game, Adames confirmed that he was, indeed, very surprised.

Game Notes
- For fans of small ball, the Willy Adames home run was the only run the Brewers scored via the home run. Keston Hiura and Jace Peterson each had RBI singles.
- Kolten Wong was 2-4 with two runs scored and a RBI triple.
- The Brewers are 48-37 and hold a 3.5-game lead in the NL Central.
