Sammy Watkins knows that he needs to stay healthy. He also knows that if he can do that with the Green Bay Packers, he could land a very lucrative contract next offseason. After the Packers finished up practice on Wednesday, Watkins spoke to reporters and got very honest about how his career has gone thus far:

In his interview, Sammy Watkins admitted that his career has not gone the way he had planned. At one time, he was one of the best up-and-coming wide receivers in the NFL. In 2015, his second year in the league, he had 60 receptions for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns. Unfortunately, he has not been able to match that production since. Injury after injury have limited his playing time. This offseason, Watkins signed a one-year $1.85 million with the Packers.
How Will Sammy Watkins Fit with the Packers?

If Matt LaFleur and Aaron Rodgers are to be believed, Sammy Watkins is going to fit in quite well with the Green Bay Packers offense. Rodgers recently stated that he knew that Watkins was a target of Green Bay’s and that he was really excited about it. He even called Watkins when he heard the news that a deal had been reached to congratulate him.
Of course, Watkins and the rest of the Packers’ wide receivers have a tall task ahead of them this season. They need to combine to replace the production of Davante Adams, arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL. Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders after he stated that he would not play under the franchise tag.
The big question for Watkins, though, is whether or not he can stay healthy. If he can, he is still an immensely dangerous receiver. And that would be best for both parties.
