The Milwaukee Brewers have an uphill battle to get into the Playoffs. After a disappointing series loss to the lowly Arizona Diamondbacks, Milwaukee needs as many wins as they can get in this last month of the season. After defeated the Colorado Rockies 6-4 on Labor Day, Christian Yelich made sure that they got off to a hot start on Tuesday. The left-handed hitting Yelich launched a home run 499 feet to leadoff the game. According to Fox Sports: MLB, it is the longest home run ever by a left-handed hitter at Coors Field:

The home run was Yelich’s 12th of the season. Three batters later, Hunter Renfroe hit a two-run home run to give the Brewers an early 3-0 lead over the Rockies.

Of course, Yelich’s home run would have been a home run in any ballpark in baseball. However, Renfroe’s also would have cleared the fence anywhere in the Majors, according to Would It Dong? on Twitter.

The bomb that Renfroe hit was his 25th of the season. Fans may remember that Renfroe was acquired before the lockout for Jackie Bradley Jr. The Red Sox, who traded Renfroe, have since designated Bradley for assignment. Bradley now plays for the Toronto Blue Jays. He is hitting .194/.275/.306 with four RBI for the Blue Jays. In total, he is hitting .208/.259/.319 with three home runs and 29 RBI. As bad as this line is, it is not as bad as Bradley was last year for the Brewers. He had one of the worst offensive seasons in history slashing .163/.236/.261 with six home runs and 29 RBI. The Brewers certainly upgraded with Renfroe, who is slashing .259/.321/.509 with 25 home runs and 61 RBI. As bad as the Josh Hader trade was for the clubhouse, David Stearns really pulled off a miracle with this trade.
