Earlier this week, we posted the latest injury updates from the Packers and 49ers immediately following the Monday Night Football game which San Francisco won. As practices ended on Thursday, there are more updates important to both teams.
Nick Bosa Has Cleared Concussion Protocol
After suffering a concussion on Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams, it was not clear whether or not star pass rusher Nick Bosa would be able to play. However, the San Francisco 49ers announced today that Bosa has cleared protocol and was a full participant in practice.
This past season, Nick Bosa had 15.5 sacks and a league-leading 21 tackles for loss. Despite the Packers finally getting healthy on the offensive line, having to block a healthy Nick Bosa is going to be a huge challenge. It should be noted, however, that in the Packers’ Week Three matchup against the 49ers, Yosh Nijman limited Bosa to no sacks and just one tackle for loss.
Jimmy Garoppolo Will Play
Earlier it was reported that Jimmy Garoppolo was suffering from a shoulder sprain and a ligament injury in his thumb. Despite these injuries, he was a full participant in practice and will start against the Packers.
Randall Cobb Is Active
The Green Bay Packers have activated Randall Cobb from IR. Cobb has been back at Green Bay’s practices for some time now, but had not been activated from IR. Today was the end of the three week window the Packers had to activate him after his return to practice. Whether or not he plays much on Saturday, it is clear that the Packers expect him to be a contributor at some point in the playoffs.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling Is Doubtful
Marquez Valdes-Scantling (MVS) was listed on the Packers’ injury report with a back injury. He was not seen practicing on Thursday during the public portion of the practice. Coach Matt LaFleur stated that MVS would be listed as doubtful for Saturday’s game.
Other Quick Notes
- David Bakhtiari did not practice on Thursday and is listed as questionable.
- Jaire Alexander practiced this week and is listed as questionable.
- Billy Turner, Aaron Jones, and De’Vondre Campbell all were full participants in practice and will play on Saturday.
