The Green Bay Packers have moved on from quality talent last year. Namely, the greatest quarterback to ever play for the Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers. As well as that they allowed other talents to join other teams in the 2023 off-season. The NFL has a system to award teams draft compensation based on how many free agents they have lost (as well as the quality of those players). Out of 34 awarded picks, the Green Bay Packers were given three.
Green Bay Packers Three Lost Players
In the 2023 offseason the Greenbay Packers lost Allen Lazard, Jarren Reed, and Dean Lowry, these losses have come back around to benefit them as the teams that obtained them did not succeed as much as the Green Bay Packers in 2024
Wide receiver Allen Lazard went to join traded Aaron Rodgers for the New York Jets. Unfortunately, he did not get to play with him on the field due to Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending Achilles tear. The New York Jets ended the season with a 7-10 record without Rodgers. Allen Lazard recorded only 23 catches for 311 yards and one touchdown, hoping to find more chemistry with the return of Aaron Rodgers.
Defensive tackle Jarran Reed returned to a team he has familiarity with, the Seattle Seahawks. After leaving the Seahawks in 2021 Jarran Reed could not find the success he had with the team that drafted him. In his return to Seattle, he racked up seven sacks in 16 games the most he has accrued since leaving the Seahawks. The Seahawks finished the season 9-8 in the strong NFC West.
Defensive end Dean Lowry joined division-rival Minnesota Vikings finding minimal success. Lowry was unable to record a sack in his nine games with Minnesota and was placed on injured reserve with a pectoral tear. The Vikings ended the season 7-10 tied for the bottom of the NFC North
