Stephen A Smith is never shy about sharing his opinion. The Green Bay Packers have been a huge topic of discussion for morning sports shows as the team decided to move on from Aaron Rodgers and go to Jordan Love. Love’s teammates have been singing his praises with wide receiver Romeo Doubs saying that he doesn’t see much difference between the two quarterbacks. Smith blasted Doubs for the comments on First Take.

You can watch his full rant here. Smith points out that Doubs is relatively new to the league and is not giving the proper respect to Rodgers. He calls out his age and NFL experience and defends the greatness of Rodgers. Smith has been a supporter of Rodgers throughout his career mostly because of his dominance over the Dallas Cowboys. Near the end of his rant, he tells Doubs to “get his glasses or eyes checked”. He clearly does not agree with Doubs.
Normal Offseason Comments
This happens every offseason. Every team’s social media tweets out slow-motion videos of throws and catches. Teams hype up their guys to get fans excited for the upcoming season. Players give votes of confidence to new players in new roles. That is all Doubs is doing. The whole Packers team is trying to show Love that they have confidence in his abilities. Also, Rodgers had a down season last year. For Doubs, it might look very similar because he only got to experience Rodgers in 2022 and not any of the previous years.
It makes sense that Stephen A Smith had something to say about Romeo Doubs’ comments. However, this is a complete non-issue. Doubs is hyping his guy. Smith is trying to go viral with a rant. That’s it. However, the hope is that Love makes Smith eat his words this season and he will soon be singing his praises.
