During this past offseason, the rumor was that Aaron Rodgers would eventually become the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos. However, new developments this week have the media theorizing that Denver will no longer be Rodgers’ destination. Instead, many believe that the three-time MVP will be playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers next season.
What About Ben Roethlisberger?
On Friday, one of Big Ben’s former teammates had some strong words for his former teammate:
The comments were followed by a report that Roethlisberger has told many people within the Steelers organization that this will be his last year with the team.
Will Aaron Rodgers Leave Green Bay for Pittsburgh?
Given the drama of this past offseason, it is fair to ask if Pittsburgh could be a potential landing spot for the Packers’ quarterback. The Packers are also way over the salary cap for next season, even though the cap is going up by $23 million. Rodgers carries a $46 million cap hit next season. This would keep the Packers from re-signing Devante Adams, among others, and from pursuing other free agents. In other words, the only way Rodgers will be able to stay in Green Bay is if he agrees to a different contract extension. Will that actually happen? Who knows?
That question has led many, including Colin Cowherd and Brooke Pryor, to name Aaron Rodgers as a potential replacement in Pittsburgh. To be clear, this is not something anyone says is going to happen. However, it is a new twist in the ongoing saga that is the Packers 2021 season.
