Week 3 Key Takeaways
I dropped Wisconsin Football a spot from last week. Iowa went on the road and beat their rival Iowa State 20-13. While the Iowa offense struggled again, they are 2-0 and that’s why I have them ahead of the Badgers because of the road win.
However, this is not a knock on Wisconsin Football. While they did lose, Washington State is going to be good this year and I believe they will surprise people in the PAC 12. The Badgers also went on the road in a tough atmosphere and nearly came back and won. While teams like Minnesota and Michigan State are 2-0, they have not had to face a team better than Washington State nor have had to go on the road yet.
I’ve been pretty conservative on Minnesota to this point. They have not looked good on offense against two mediocre teams. They will be tested this week as they travel to #20 North Carolina. If they go to Chapel Hill and pull off the road upset, then I will look at them differently.
The top four did not change this week. The Big Ten East is clearly better. Any one of those four teams would be favorite if they were in the West.
What a train wreck it’s been for Nebraska. Credit the Cornhuskers for playing two road games already at Minnesota and Colorado. However, they have issues at quarterback. Jeff Sims won the competition in fall camp, but it’s been a disaster with him under center the first two games.
