The Onion is known for its on-point satire and no one is safe, not even Aaron Rodgers. The satirical news outlet is taking aim at the New York Jets quarterback and his affinity for complaining about the roster. As a Packers fan who now does not have to deal with his antics, it was a very funny read.
The Onion Roasts Aaron Rodgers
The headline says it all. “Jets Impressed By How Quickly Aaron Rodgers Complaining About Roster” The article takes aim at Rodgers often complaining about his teammates especially his last couple of years in Green Bay. Some of the excerpts are laugh-out-loud funny. Here is a sampling of some of my personal favorites.
‘“It’s amazing to watch how Aaron’s mind works, how rapidly he found at least one thing about every single guy on this team that he absolutely loathes,” said Jets head coach Robert Saleh’
“Aaron has already come to us with detailed gripes about nearly everyone, from the veterans to the rookies, and even the guys he asked us to sign.”
“After all the controversy surrounding him coming here, we’re all just glad to see that Aaron is exactly the kind of locker-room cancer we hoped he’d be.”

Good Satire Is Rooted In Fact
Obviously, this article is over the top but good satire is rooted in fact. Rodgers was not shy about his displeasure with how things went down in Green Bay near the end. The drafting of Jordan Love and the unwillingness to bring first-round talent in on the offensive side of the ball were just a couple of minor gripes that Rodgers had. He is about to see if the grass is greener on the other side. The Jets have been very accommodating and have a lot of offensive talent already on the roster. The Jets are hoping that Rodgers is the missing piece.
I very much enjoyed Aaron Rodgers getting roasted by The Onion. Honestly, I enjoy everyone getting roasted by the satirical news site. With how seriously we all can take sports, it is nice to be able to laugh at what is going on once in a while as well.
