Schobert has been on the Titans’ practice squad this year. On Tuesday he got the call to be on the active roster. The Thursday night games are a quick turnaround meaning that many players who were injured on Sunday are not cleared to play yet. Schobert gets an opportunity to try and slow down Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones. It may be surprising to Badgers fans to see Schobert coming off of a practice squad after the career he had at Wisconsin.
Schobert’s Wisconsin Career
Schobert’s senior year was a special one. In 2015, he totaled 76 tackles with 20 of them going for a loss. He added 9.5 sacks and one interception to his stat sheet. However, the highlight of the year came in week 7 against Maryland when he took a fake punt for 57 yards. The end of the season saw him receive numerous awards. He won the Jack Lambert trophy which recognizes the nation’s best linebacker. He won the Big Ten linebacker of the year as well and was voted first-team All-American by FWAA and ESPN. Schobert has never found his footing in the NFL after being a selection by the Cleveland Browns in the 4th round.
The Badgers Joe Schobert was an impact player during his time at Wisconsin. He will get a chance on Thursday night to make an impact in the NFL.
