The Green Bay Packers certainly have their work cut out for them on Sunday Night. They are 3-4 and facing the 5-1 Buffalo Bills. Green Bay has never won in Buffalo and has lost three straight games overall. Additionally, injuries to their wide receivers have made an already struggling offense even more stagnant. There is one player, though, that has stood out in practice this week, at least to wide receivers’ coach Jason Vrable: Samori Toure. The seventh round draft pick has only dressed for one game this season, but he may be seeing the field a little more often given the Packers’ lack of depth at wide receiver.

Jason Vrable Has High Praise for Samori Toure
Per Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Packers wide receivers coach Jason Vrable said that Samori Toure has looked fantastic in practice over the last three weeks. Going up against Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes, Toure has been able to get separation and get open against two of the toughest cornerbacks in the NFL:
#Packers WR coach Jason Vrable said that the last 3 weeks rookie Samori Toure has really taken off in practice. He said on the scout team he regularly faces Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes and has shown he can get open. Said he is on point with his assignments and route running.

Of course, most fans remember that Toure was drafted in the seventh round after playing at Nebraska. There, Toure had 46 receptions for 898 yards and five touchdowns in his lone season with the Cornhuskers. Prior to transferring to Nebraska, Toure played at Montana for three seasons. Many forget that in 2019, Toure lit up the gridiron with 1,495 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
The Packers Need Toure (or Anyone) to Step Up in the Passing Game
The Packers will already be without veteran Randall Cobb, who is on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Additionally, Allen Lazard does not expect to play after injuring his shoulder last week. Sammy Watkins is healthy, but recently spent time on injured reserve himself. Christian Watson is questionable (again) with a hamstring injury). Really, the only fully healthy wide receivers the Packers have are Romeo Doubs, Amari Rodgers, and Toure. Juwann Winfree is on the team’s practice squad, but cannot be elevated anymore per the NFL’s rules. A player can only be elevated from the practice squad three times. Winfree has been elevated three times, so the Packers must sign him to their 53-man roster if they want to play him.
The opportunity is there for one of these young players to make a name for himself. Which one will go out there and do it?
