The Green Bay Packers have signed another one of their 2020 draft picks to a contract: sixth round pick Jon Runyan Jr. out of the University of Michigan. The twenty-two year old guard was the 192nd overall pick in this year’s draft. Runyan is the son of former NFL right tackle Jon Runyan Sr., who also was a US Representative for the state of New Jersey from 2011 to 2015.
Jon Runyan Jr.’s contract is a standard rookie contract that will run for the next four seasons, putting the All Big-Ten guard under the Packers’ control until 2024. Exact details of the contract are yet to be revealed. Adam Schefter was first to break the news via Twitter.
Runyan racked up a multitude of awards during his time at Michigan, and was known for his football intelligence during pre-draft evaluations. It will be interesting to see if this draft pick pans out for the Packers over the next four years.
