Packers’ OG Jon Runyan Jr. was certainly taken back by the theories he was hearing about his father. Jon Runyan Sr. is the NFL’s Vice President of rules and policy administration. A position he has held since since 2016. Once Tampa Bay fans on Reddit found this out, they had some pretty wild accusations regarding Mike Evans’ one game suspension being upheld:
Jon Runyan Jr. Responds To Allegations:
He was just doing his job. He’s been doing that job for over half a decade now. It just so happens we’re playing the Buccaneers this week. Everybody’s trying to make it into a conspirator theory, which it’s not.
{On Mike Evans} It was a lapse is judgement, which happens sometimes. You can’t be running 15 yards down field tying to head-hunt somebody when the play is over. It’s funny though, how things workout sometimes.
Jon Runyan Jr. is completely correct. Mike Evans’ actions this past Sunday were completely warranted of a suspension. If you haven’t seen it, here is the video:
Mike Evans and Marshon Lattimore have gone at it three sperate times over the years.
Evans was suspended one game for what happened in 2017 — so another suspension would not be a surprise.

Evans’ suspension was warranted
The suspension will be costly for the Buccaneers. Evans is an All-Pro wide receiver who has built a great rapport with quarterback Tom Brady. So far this season, he has eight catches for 132 yards and one touchdown.
The Buccaneers brought wide receiver Cole Beasley to help the team with Evans’ suspension. But Evans, a four-time Pro-bowl athlete, will be hard to replace on Sunday. On top of that both WR Chris Godwin and WR Julio Jones are dealing with injuries. Godwin (hamstring) and Jones (knee) may not be ready to go in week three. Tampa Bay could be down their top three wide receivers against a Packers defense who seems to be finding its groove. That being said, expect a big workload from RB Leonard Fournette. The one area Green Bay’s defense has certainly struggled in is run defense; allowing 153 yards per game on the ground through the first two weeks.
