The Packers have been known to be a great offensive line up front over the years. A lot of Aaron Rodger’s tenured success for the franchise can be attributed to this team’s consistency at o-line for well over a decade.
However nowadays one of the vital spots of the offensive line is seeing a bit of competition for the starting role. Zach Tom is the leading candidate over other guys like Yosh Nijman and Luke Tenuta.
Most Packers fans likely believe Tom will be the starter, especially given that Tenuta was carried off of the field in the preseason victory versus the Bengals on Friday.
However despite this, the Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has yet to make a commitment on the right tackle spot, when asked about this in a press conference this afternoon.
Uncertainty in his answers:
” Well I think we still have a ways to go “, Matt said. ” We got two more preseason games, it’s going to be a big week for our guys “, he went on to say.
The reporter ended up asking a followup question about if Zach Tom could be somewhere else on the offensive line such as being lined up at the Center spot.
” Yeah potentially, like I said there’s a lot of ball in front of us “, LaFleur exclaimed. ” We’ll let these guys battle throughout the course of training camp “, he said.
The uncertainty continues into the second preseason game at home against the Patriots on Saturday. However, until then, the right tackle spot is still very much up for grabs.
