The Green Bay Packers rival. the Minnesota Vikings could be one of the main reasons why New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones received a four-year $160 million deal in the offseason. On Monday night football, he was sacked 11 times and also threw a pick-six in a 24-3 loss. New York has one of the worst offenses in the entire NFL this season.
Jones has already thrown six interceptions this season. He only threw five last season. Daniel Jones may not even reach the 15 passing touchdowns he threw last season and only has thrown two in the first four weeks. Jones had two big games last season against the Minnesota Vikings, including a playoff win and that is what potentially sold the Giants on him, but it proves they were wrong.
On Tuesday on WFAN, Gio had some strong words to say about the Jones contract and the Green Bay Packers rival, the Minnesota Vikings:
“Was that one game the reason why the Giants are paying this guy like a top five quarterback? Ever since that game…almost every game they have played since that Viking playoff game, they have got their face kicked in. and they were getting killed in Arizona, they had a miraculous comeback, and he looked awesome. But every other game hasn’t been competitive. This is why I was so down on him, but I’ve also seen greatness. It’s confusing…it’s in there, but Brian Daboll is livid with not only that personality, but the decision making, in year two, when he should be 10 times better. That’s what most alarming thing to me. You know Brian Daboll is a good coach. He won Coach of the Year, he got the most out of his team, you add more weapons around him, and he’s regressed?”
Green Bay Packers Rival Minnesota Vikings For Sure is Responsible For Getting Daniel Jones Paid, But the New York Giants could be in the Caleb Williams Sweepstakes After All
What could be a total galaxy brain in all of this is that the Chicago Bears currently own the top two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. You would think the Green Bay Packers rivals for sure could possibly land quarterback Caleb Williams from USC, right? Well, according to an ESPN stat, the New York Giants have a 13.5% chance to land the number one overall pick after a 1-3 start.
The Giants have a great chance to be 1-5 after Week 6 because they play the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills next. They feel too talented to get the number one pick, but if Daniel Jones continues to be bad, and so does the offensive line, New York getting that top selection isn’t out of the question.
Even though it is a 4-year deal, they can get out of it after the second year. Also, drafting Drake Maye from North Carolina or anyone else for general manager Joe Schoen isn’t out of the question. Brian Daboll seems to have had enough of Jones, and they will want their own quarterback to mold for the long run. Wouldn’t it be something if Williams was out of the NFC North entirely and went to the Giants instead? Will see how this plays out.
