NFL: Peyton Manning visited the Green Bay Packers practice this week. It was fairly surprising to see one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history attending the Packers’ practice field, but the team seemed to take full advantage of the situation. During his press conference this week, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur had high praise for Peyton Manning, calling him “one of the all-time greats” and making it clear that he had an important message to the team.

“It was great,” LaFleur said according to Pro Football Talk. “He addressed our team [about] the lessons he learned, especially as a young player, how to respond to adversity, the great teams he was on, his approach to the game. I thought it was super beneficial. You’re talking about one of the all-time greats.”
It’s not clear exactly why Manning was in attendance at the Green Bay Packers practice, but according to Pro Football Talk, it “appeared to be in his capacity as the owner of Omaha Productions, the production company behind a number of popular programs including the Netflix documentary Quarterback.
What Did Quarterback Jordan Love Take Away From Peyton Manning?
Robin Adams of Wisconsin Sports Heroics highlighted what the young starting quarterback took away from the one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time:
“He had a lot of really good gems just in terms of taking notes, how you watch film. When you’re at home by yourself, are you writing down questions? Things you can come back, ask your coaches later.
“How are you asking to be coached? Are you a guy that wants to be coached really hard? Are you a guy that kind of just wants to do your own thing? It all really matters. He said that when he was a player, that was his biggest thing. He wanted to be coached really hard. He always wanted to be told when he was doing wrong. Things like that.”
Jordan Love has shown tremendous progress and growth over the last three years. That growth is what allowed the Packers to move on from Aaron Rodgers and give Love a shot. It will be the first time in 31 years that someone not named Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre will be under center during opening week for the Green Bay Packers. The organization clearly has full confidence in the 2020 first-round draft pick.
