Gary Davenport outlined a scenario that would send third overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft to the Minnesota Vikings:
Is This Type Of Trade Realistic?
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network:
Three-time Pro Bowl DE Danielle Hunter plans to skip the Vikings’ mandatory minicamp, per sources. The sides haven’t seen eye-to-eye on a new contract. Ian Rapoport reported Minnesota has received trade calls, and now one of the NFL’s top pass rushers is officially a holdout.
The Minnesota Vikings are looking at multiple long-term deals in the near future. Most notably, Justin Jefferson looks to be the highest paid non-QB player in NFL history. The possibility is still there for the Vikings to re-sign Kirk Cousins to another top market QB deal. In order to accomplish these things, trading away players with a large salary cap hit may be a necessity.
While the trade itself may be realistic, the expected contract the Vikings would have to commit to in the next few years may not be. However, if the Vikings feel Lance would give them the best long-term shot at QB they could certainly move on from other players to make it happen.
