Did former NFL quarterback turned ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky just send out a come-get-me plea to Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers? Based on a recent interview he did, this seems to be the case. LaFleur has already added no less than four fresh faces to his coaching staff this offseason, with none more prominent than Greg Williams taking over Jerry Gray’s role as the passing game coordinator. Could Orlovsky be the next one on the list?
Green Bay Packers Fans React To Dan Orlovsky Potentially Joining Matt LaFleur’s Coaching Staff
Before anything else, here’s an excerpt from Orlovsky’s recent interview wherein he revealed that he’s actually already discussed a coaching role with Matt LaFleur:
“I’ve had conversations with Matt about it, of going out there,” Orlovsky said. “There’s been conversations this offseason. It’ll always be something that I’ve been interested in. Right now, I love being at ESPN. I love being able to get to do what I do and I’m super thankful for that.”
As he said above, Orlovsky is happy with his current role as an NFL analyst on ESPN. That job pays good money, too. However, he also all but confirmed his willingness to take on a coaching gig in the NFL if the opportunity arises.
Packers fans took to Twitter to share their reactions to this developing story. Orlovsky is without a doubt a big name, but for the most part, Green Bay supporters would much rather that the former Detroit Lions quarterback stay away from their team:

Absolutely not lol

I actually think he provides a great analysis of the game but analyzing and coaching are two different ballgames

While the general sentiment from the greater majority of Packers fans was not in favor of hiring Orlovsky, there are those who believe otherwise:
Come on LFG. I’d love that

Would Dan Orlovsky Have A Role In Matt LaFleur’s Coaching Staff?
As far as I know, there’s currently no opening on LaFleur’s coaching crew. However, it would not be a complete shock if the Packers decide to bring on Orlovsky. You have to note that LaFleur and Orlovsky have history, being that they crossed paths during the latter’s final year in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams. At that time, LaFleur was brought on as an offensive coordinator in LA, so he must have worked with Orlovsky in some capacity.
Perhaps the ideal role for Orlovsky would be as a quarterbacks coach for the Packers. This position is currently occupied by 70-year-old coach Tom Clements, who could be on his way out in the not-so-distant future. Maybe Dan Orlovsky could step into this job if and when it opens up?
