After a breakout season with the Houston Texans last term, Jonathan Owens secured himself a deal with the Green Bay Packers for 2023. It’s been a long and arduous journey for the undrafted safety, but he’s now well on his way to achieving his NFL dream.
Owens has had a great support system along the way. Hi wife, seven-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles, has stood by her husband’s side through it all. Together, they are now reaping the benefits of their hard work and sacrifices.
Simone Biles’ Dedication To Her Craft Rubbed Off On Jonathan Owens

Simone Biles is one of the most successful American gymnasts in the history of the sport. Given the heights she reached, a lesser man would have turned to insecurity and envy as he failed to achieve the same level of success for himself. This was not the case for Owens, though. He used his then-fiancee’s historic accomplishments as the driving force in his own journey:
“She brings the best out of me,” Owens said, vie Wes Hodkiewicz. “Just watching her and how she worked every day going into the Olympics – her focus and her drive – it just makes you want to get up and do something because your partner is doing that.”
For her part, Biles was nothing but supportive of her man. He was with him through the ups and downs. Amid all the failure and success, Simone never left Jonathan’s side.
Jonathan Owens Will Always Have That Chip On His Shoulder

Jonathan Owens never gave up — even if it was the easy way out. After going undrafted three years ago, the former Missouri Western State standout got himself a chance with the Arizona Cardinals. Unfortunately for him, Owens suffered a season-ending injury even before he could play his first NFL game. The following year, after working his way back from a major injury, he ended up getting cut by the Cardinals right before the season started.
Jonathan Owens never gave up. He just kept his head down and continued to put in the work. Not long after he fell out of grace with the Cardinals, Owens got a second chance with the Houston Texans. The rest, as they say, is history.
“It was just about being patient and waiting for that opportunity and Houston gave me that opportunity on practice squad,” Owens said. “I was overjoyed to have that opportunity … and I’m still here, man, fighting. It was all part of the journey.”
Indeed it was. Owens ended up starting 17 games last season with the Texans, which led to a summer move to the Packers. At this point, however, the 27-year-old continues to look back at the tough road he took to get to where he is today:
“I’m undrafted, man. I take that with me everywhere I go,” Owens said. “If anyone in the NFL knows, when you say you’re undrafted, it’s always a respect thing. I went to a Division II school right out of high school. I always carried a chip on my shoulder.”
