1. Dallas Cowboys
- The Dallas Cowboys released kicker Tristan Vizcaino earlier this month. They’re hoping Brandon Aubrey, who had a successful stint in the USFL, can be their next starting kicker. But he’s not having a great training camp.
According to Nick Shook with the NFL, Aubrey has missed plenty of kicks during training camp this summer:
“Aubrey also didn’t have a great outing on Saturday, missing 2 of 7 field goal attempts during the same practice in which Vizcaino finished with a conversion rate of 50 percent. But as a young kicker, Aubrey’s potential — he made 14 of 15 field goal attempts while kicking for the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions in 2023 — has convinced the Cowboys to proceed with him as their kicker for now.”
Aubrey made his only field goal attempt (29 yards) of the Cowboys’ first preseason game. But he missed one of his three extra points.
The Cowboys are another playoff contender this year. They can’t afford to leave points on the board while playing in the same division as the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. They should consider bringing the native Texan, Crosby, to Dallas for 2023.
