The Green Bay Packers are officially in the Jordan Love Era and the hype is real. When Aaron Rodgers was first traded to the New York Jets, Love was put under the national microscope and was not given a good evaluation. Despite what teammates like Aaron Jones, AJ Dillon, Elgton Jenkins, Jaire Alexander, and David Bakhtiari said, very few would take what they had to say to heart.
A lot of changed in the last two weeks, though. Love has put together two excellent preseason games. While he has only played a total of five offensive series, he has completed 12 of 18 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns (124.7 quarterback rating).
Now the national media is starting to take notice and change their narrative. And the best is yet to come, especially if what Packers quarterback Alex McGough said about Love after practice on Tuesday is accurate.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Alex McGough on Jordan Love: “He’s Got It All”
McGough has bounced around the NFL and has worked with some of the game’s best quarterbacks. He was asked if he believed Love had all the same intangibles that they did. McGough went on to list several of the quarterbacks that he has worked with (prime Russell Wilson and Nick Foles among them), and said a person can tell by how they threw the ball in practice that they were great.
Leadership, footwork, and arm talent are all essential for a quarterback in the NFL, and McGough stated:
“Just the other quarterbacks that I’ve been with have been to pro-bowls & have won super bowls – [Jordan Love’s] got it. He’s got all of it.”
#Packers QB Alex McGough with high praise on QB1 when I asked him if he can tell if Jordan Love can be a winning quarterback in the NFL:

As many have been saying from the start, it is unfair to compare Love to or expect him to be Aaron Rodgers. He is going to be his own person. However, if that person has what it takes to make multiple Pro Bowls and win a Super Bowl or two, that is something to be excited about!
Remember, the praise that Love is getting is not just coming from his own teammates, Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots players all came away from joint practices very impressed with him.
Perhaps 2023 won’t be so bad.
