Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was the subject of a terrible and, frankly, disrespectful tirade by sports media personality Colin Cowherd. During his four-minute long rant, Cowherd went so far as to say that Love should quit the game of football.
Colin Cowherd Hyped Up Jordan Love Prior to the Green Bay Packers Taking Him in the 2020 NFL Draft

Before the 2020 NFL Draft there were few analysts who were as confident in Love than Cowherd:

In this video, Greg Cosell calls Love a top-ten pick talent and Cowherd says that he is the quarterback everyone should be watching and be excited about in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Going off of his previous statements about Love, Cowherd predicted that he would be drafted seventh overall by the Carolina Panthers. The video linked in the Tweet, by the way, has since been moved to “private” and cannot be viewed.

Not only did Cowherd think Love should be drafted in the top 10 in 2020, he said that Love would have the best career of any quarterback taken in that draft.

In this clip, Cowherd explains why Love is “worth the risk” to draft high in the first round. He also calls Baker Mayfield a franchise quarterback.

And here, the crown jewel: Colin Cowherd says the Packers should draft Jordan Love to take over for Aaron Rodgers.
Once the Green Bay Packers Drafted Jordan Love, Colin Cowherd Changed His Tune

So what changed? Well, nothing. As mentioned, Cowherd makes his living by being extreme, by grabbing a narrative and making it as oppositional as possible, even if that means going back on his own previous stance.

Here, despite calling for the Packers to draft Love just months prior, Cowherd questions their intentions for doing so.
Now, fans all know the asinine things Cowherd has spouted since the draft; but this one might take the cake:
My favorite part of this is that Colin Cowherd took notice of the HL typo while simultaneously saying Dwayne Haskins’ name without realizing he died last year.

– Six unemployed QBs.
– Seven backup QBs.
– Jordan Love, who has started one game in his career. pic.twitter.com/ZOcHLZId0o— Michael Sicoli (@Michael__Sicoli) August 8, 2023
Cowherd lists Love as a quarterback who cannot win a Super Bowl, on a list where he included Dwayne Haskins, who unfortunately died last year.
The simple truth of the matter is this: Colin Cowherd wants to be controversial, and he will say or do anything to present himself that way. If he can so easily flip a switch to change his stance on a player, his opinions should not be taken seriously.
