Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a horrible injury four snaps into his tenure and with the New York Jets. For all the offensive skill weapons that they put around Rodgers, they failed to address one important position group: the offensive line. On all three of his drop backs, Rodgers was quickly under duress.
On his third drop back, Buffalo Bills edge rusher (and former Chicago Bear) Leonard Floyd sacked Rodgers. In the process of going down, Rodgers injured his ankle. Negative x-rays led many to believe that he suffered a torn Achilles. A MRI on Tuesday morning confirmed their worst fears: Rodgers has a complete tear of his Achilles and is out for the season.

It is a really bad break for the Jets, whose Super Bowl aspirations now seem, once again, like a thing of the past. It is also a reminder of how quickly things can change on the football field.
Former Green Bay Packers Tight End Brandon Bostick Calls Out So-Called Fans Who Cheered for Aaron Rodgers’ Injury

As much as Packers fans like to think of themselves as the best fanbase in the NFL (and in many ways they are), the attitudes and actions of several so-called fans were called out on X following Rodgers’ injury.
The people hear roared when Rodgers got sacked…and cheered again when they realized he was hurt.
The free booze condition is Rodgers must start the game. Doesn’t say anything about him needing to finish it https://t.co/e0D3XyBXDR pic.twitter.com/FolOHTK9Nd

This is truly the despicable side of sports fandom. How quickly fans forget that professional athletes are human beings. The cheering for an injury is barely a step above ancient Romans cheering during the barbaric gladiatorial games.
Former Packers and Jets tight end Brandon Bostick, a former teammate of Rodgers’, knows all-to-well about that dark side of fandom, and he called them out on X:
I’ve never seen so many people wish bad on someone. Get that hate/evil out ya heart. HealUp. Prayers up 8✈️ #JetsNation

It is truly a shame that there are people that lack empathy. The fact of the matter is that Rodgers did more for this team over the last 15 years than most. Up until Sunday, he was the only Packers starting quarterback that young fans had ever known.
To see some fans treat his injury like is shameful, and a dark mark on Packers fandom in general.
We have to better.
