The New York Jets fanbase has come alive after the Aaron Rodgers trade this offseason, and it’s paying off for the four-time MVP in a way he hasn’t seen in a long time. The Jets market opened up an avenue to Rodgers he hadn’t had with the Green Bay Packers–over 8 million potential customers who live in New York City.
Fans love Aaron Rodgers’ New York Jets jersey
According to NFL Shop, Rodgers’ number 8 Jets jersey was the highest-selling NFL jersey for the month of April. He beat out last year’s NFL MVP and Super Bowl-dueling quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes, who were second and third, respectively. Rodgers’ friend Odell Beckham Jr.; and Josh Allen rounded out the top five in NFL work uniform sales. Rodgers’ successor in Green Bay, Jordan Love, was the seventh-highest in jersey sales last month.
Rodgers wanted to move on from the Packers this season as the team turned to Love. Rodgers said he chose the Jets because he thought the team could win a Super Bowl. The resulting move into a major market won’t be a lousy cash grab for the 38-year-old athlete not far off from retirement. Rodgers will have a chance to increase his merchandise sales in a new city–the largest in the US.
Rodgers crushed jersey sales in 2011 after the Packers won the Super Bowl. But the Packers faithful hadn’t been giving him as much love in recent seasons. Rodgers didn’t crack the top ten in jersey sales last season. Of course, many fans keep their jerseys for a few seasons, but still, not in the top ten Green Bay?
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields was the top jersey sale for the state of Wisconsin in February.

Now Rodgers is cashing in on his incredible three-year contract and will earn a boost of jersey sales he wouldn’t have made staying with the Packers.

I mean he played for the team for 17 years. We already had his jersey. More likely a couple.
