NBA rumors: Joel Embiid rocked the basketball world with his recent comments about potentially winning an NBA title with another team. Both the reigning MVP and the Philadelphia 76ers downplayed the remarks by saying that Embiid was merely joking around. Be that as it may, the damage has been done, and it comes as no surprise that all of a sudden, trade rumors are circling around the Sixers’ cornerstone superstar.
NBA Rumors: Knicks Monitoring Joel Embiid’s Situation With Sixers
One of the Milwaukee Bucks’ Eastern Conference rivals has now emerged as a potential landing spot for Embiid in the event that he asks out of Philly. That team is the New York Knicks, who according to NBA insider Fred Katz of The Athletic, “have monitored the situation” between Embiid and the Sixers.
Kats points out that the most important thing for New York right now is how any potential recruit will fit in alongside Jalen Brunson. For his part, Joel Embiid complements the Knicks star excellently.
Obviously, the 76ers will demand a potentially record-breaking haul if they ever trade Embiid away. Katz believes that the Knicks could be capable of meeting these lofty demands:
“The Knicks could put together a trade package that includes up to four unprotected first-rounders, up to three first-round swaps and another four picks from other teams as well as a young up-and-comer or two,” wrote Katz.
New York also has some very promising young talents that could push this deal over the edge with the likes of RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and Quentin Grimes at their disposal.
At this point, it might be unlikely. However, it is not impossible.
NBA Rumors: How Does This Impact Bucks?
Regardless of whether Joel Embiid takes his talents to the Big Apple or he remains in the City of Brotherly Love, the fact of the matter is that he’s still going to be in the East. You can argue that either the Knicks or the Sixers are going to be a more formidable foe for the Bucks with Embiid in the mix, but at the end of the day, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co. will be ready for any and all eventualities.
The Bucks are going to be back with a vengeance this coming season following their disappointing 2022-23 campaign, and you can be sure that they have every intention of bulldozing their way through anyone who stands in their way.
